National:
  • The Union Government has announced that the treatment of childhood cancer will be covered under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. The information was shared by NITI Aayog member Vinod Kumar Paul, while speaking at a function in New Delhi on September 9, 2018.Paul revealed that child cancer will be treated under the Ayushman Bharat scheme and the rate in this regard has been fixed. He also said that 1.5 lakh health and wellness centres will be opened across India by 2022 under the scheme.

  • The Reserve Bank of India has released new guidelines through a gazette notification for all notes which were introduced post note ban, or notes which were introduced as part of the Mahatma Gandhi New Series. 

Agreements:
  • India and France have signed an implementation agreement on “MOBILISE YOUR CITY” (MYC) here last evening in the presence of Minister of State (I/C), Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA) Shri Hardeep Singh Puri and Shri Alexander Ziegler, Ambassador of France in India.

  • Jack Ma, the executive chairman of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, has said he plans to step down in a year.Mr Ma, one of China's richest men, will hand over the reins to Daniel Zhang, currently chief executive.

  • India’s current account deficit (CAD) widened to a four-quarter-high at 2.4% of gross domestic product (GDP) in April-June period on the back of rising crude oil prices, from 1.9% of GDP in the January-March quarter of 2017-18, according to data released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
