National:
  • The Ministry of Health has announced the implementation of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) Act through a gazette notification issued on Monday.The Bill was introduced in Parliament by the previous government (UPA). The amendments to the HIV and AIDS (Prevention and Control) Bill, 2014 were revived by NDA in July last year.
  • The Military Field Training Exercise for the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) nations called MILEX 2018, started with a grand opening ceremony at Aundh Military Station, Pune on Monday.
  • The Union Minister of State(I/C) Housing and Urban Affairs, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri has said that the NDA government at the centre is committed to provide positive solution to the problems of home buyers, so that they get their home as soon as possible.

Announcement:
  • India’s first institute offering a degree course in the transport sector, the National Rail and Transportation Institute (NRTI), started its operation this week. The institute is currently operating out of National Academy of Indian Railways, Vadodara.
  • With concerns being raised on some proposals of the draft e-commerce policy, the government has set up a group of secretaries to look into the issues, according to an official.

Financial News:
  • India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has partnered with Financial Software and Systems (FSS), a payments technology company to ensure that micro-merchants are able to accept payments over any channel – online, unified payments interface (UPI), quick-response (QR) codes, Aadhaar and IPPB accounts.
  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Monday asked all scheduled commercial banks with over 10 branches to appoint an internal ombudsman (IO). The central bank has, however, excluded regional rural banks (RRBs) from appointing ombudsman.

  • Hima Das, who won the gold medal at the IAAF World U-20 Athletics Championships, will become the first ever sports ambassador of Assam.
