India is a country where "Unity in Diversity" can be seen.To put the different cultures of India under one umbrella, 'Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat' scheme was announced by the Ministry of Culture on the occasion of birth centenary of Sardar Vallavbhai Patel. As a part of that scheme, 'National Mission on Cultural Mapping of India' is launched at Mathura district in Uttarpradesh on the birth centenary of Pandit Dindayal Upadhyay who was from Mathura.

Few Facts About 'Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat'-
The mission was launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the 140th birthday of Sardar Patel in October, 2015.Finance Minister mentioned about it also in his budget speech 2016-2017.According to him

  •  Though the initiative the different cultures, practices and traditions of different states and Union Territories of India must lead to a strong bonding and understanding among them. Thus the unity and integrity of India will strengthen.
  • All states and UTs must be covered under this initiative. Different states and UTs will be paired for one year to exchange the tradition and values and perform interstate and district level cultural activities separately.The pairing will be valid for one year. After that, the pairing will be changed.
  • This activity must be very significant as the people of India can understand the value of tradition of different states. The realization of' India as One Nation' must be developed among them.
Few Facts About 'National Mission on Cultural Mapping of India'-
The main motto of the mission was to convert the vast and diverse cultural canvas of India into a cultural map with some objectives.It aims to design a platform to save the rich cultural heritage of India by assembling the artists and the art forms.The aspiration of the artist community must also be fulfilled.
  •  The mission executes data mapping and builds demography to formalize the process under one web based roof to achieve better results.
  •  It makes a direct channel which allows the artists to openly communicate with govt. and find out the local talent by joining hand together.
Aim of the Mission- The 'National Mission on Cultural Mapping of India' has started to fulfill some objectives.Those are-
  • Celebrate the Unity in Diversity-The unity in diversity of the one nation India must be celebrated and the emotional bonding between the people of India must be strengthened through a traditional touch.
  • Promote the National Integrity-The spirit of National Integrity will be developed though the deep cultural engagement of states and UTs throughout the year.
  • Explore the Heritage and Culture- The rich heritage, customs, culture and traditions of the States will be showcased to make the people realize and appreciate the unity in diversity of India. Thus the sense of being an 'Indian' will be developed among the people.
  • Create long-term engagements and activities through mutual co-operation.
  • Develop A Healthy Environment- A healthy environment must be developed to exchange the best practices and experiences through learning between the states.
