National:
  • Shri Piyush Goyal Launches Rail Heritage Digitisation Project of Indian Railways in collaboration with Google Arts & Culture.The project is a landmark effort, first of its kind in this part of the globe, to showcase country’s Rail Heritage to National and International audience Whenever we look at the evolution of the transport system in India, all these rich traditions, history and culture will play an important role in understanding how the Indian Railways has evolved.
  • The 'Conference on Academic Leadership on Education for Resurgence' has been inaugurated today, on September 29 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi. The conference is attended by vice-chancellors and directors of over 350 higher education institutions.
  • In Madhya Pradesh, the first corn festival of the country is being held in Chhindwara from today. The festival is one of a kind international event.Madhya Pradesh is one of the largest corn producing states in India, with Chhindwara being the highest corn producing district.
  • In order to fight the growing problem of counterfeit drugs in India, NITI Aayog and Oraclesigned a Statement of Intent (SoI) to pilot a real drug supply-chain using blockchain distributed ledger and Internet of Things (IoT) software. Apollo Hospitals and Strides Pharma Sciences will partner in this effort.

  • World Health Day is celebrated across the world on 29th September.It was launched in 2000 by the World Heart Federation as an annual event.

New Launching:
  • The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, under the aegis of Swachh Bharat Mission – Urban (SBM – U), has partnered with Google to launch the Loo Review campaign to encourage all local guides in India to rate and review public toilets on Google Maps.This campaign is part of a feature which allows all citizens to locate public toilets in their cities on Google Maps, Search and the Assistant and also provide feedback on the same.

Financial News:
  • The RBI on Friday pulled up Bandhan Bank for its failure to bring down promoter holding to 40 per cent as mandated in the licensing norms for universal bank. The central bank has withdrawn permission to open new branches and put a freeze on the remuneration of the MD&CEO, CS Ghosh.Promoter holding in the bank currently stands at 82.28 per cent.

Appointment:
  • The Centre on Friday announced the appointment of India's current Ambassador to Myanmar, Vikram Misri, as the next Ambassador of India to the People's Republic of China.
