National:
  • The Union Cabinet today approved new Umbrella Scheme 'Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan, PM-AASHA.The Scheme is aimed at ensuring remunerative prices to farmers for their produce as announced in the Union Budget for 2018.
  • Ministry of Steel has launched anAward Scheme to recognizethe Secondary Steel sector for their contribution to the national economy. The first ever awards will be given on 13th September 2018 at a function in New Delhi to the achievers in this sector for their performance during 2016-17.
  • PM-led Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on Wednesday approved 100 per cent electrification of the Indian Railways, tentatively by 2021-22, settling a decades-long debate.
