YUVA Scheme - A Skill Development Programme

Today we are going to update this Scheme due to Misconfusion. This "YUVA SCHEME - A SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME" comes under "Pradhan Mantri kaushal Vikash Yojana (PMKVY)". Shortly we will make a special Notes on "Yuva Yojana (Yuva Udyamita Vikas Abhiyan)". It will help you all to differentiate between these two Scheme ie. "YUVA SCHEME - A SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME" &"Yuva Yojana (Yuva Udyamita Vikas Abhiyan)".
Important Fast Facts:
  • Home Minister of India Sri Rajnath Singh has launched the YUVA program. 
  • Its main aim is to train the youth for developing their job oriented skills .
  • The initiative is taken by the Delhi Police under the PMKVY.
  • Delhi police have joined hand with the NSDC and CII to provide the training.
The Home Minister of India Rajnath Singh has launched a new "skill development" program. The program is named as YUVA. The initiative is taken by the Delhi Police under the PMKVY (Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikash Yojona). The main motto of this initiative is to improve the image of Police Department among the common people by opening centers to train the youth for developing their skills in various police stations.

Objectives of YUVA Program:
  • To provide essential training to develop necessary skills among the youth.
  • To engage with the young people who are prone to indulge in criminal activities and addict to drugs.
  • To adopt various people-friendly measures by the Police to increase the social interaction with the common people.
  • To provide more employment to the youth of the state.
  • To focus on the need of the social service and crime prevention.
 Features of the YUVA Program:
  • The YUVA program is launched by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
  • The Delhi Police would open training centers for skill development at the Police stations for the youth.
  • Under the program, the Delhi Police must help the Indian Youth who are much prone to indulge in various illegal activities, drug addiction etc. As well as the police must join hands with the society to bring them back to the right path.
  • Under the program, approximately 70%-80% youth would get employment. The technical skill based training must make them industry-ready. The trained and properly groomed youth can grab job easily in the highly competitive job market.
  • The youth can upgrade themselves as per the standard of carious industries and thus can easily be hired by the companies under the umbrella of PMKVY of the Ministry of Skill Development.
  • For this purpose, the Delhi police have joined hand with the NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation) and CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) to provide the job oriented skill training to the selected youth.
  • The training would be provided through the “Sector Skill Councils”. These councils are connected to the industry and guarantee jobs. 
  • The youth of age group of 17-24 years are selected for the training by the police in all the 13 districts of Delhi. The youth are chosen among the juvenile offenders, dropouts of schools, victims of various crimes, extremely poor families and mostly the underprivileged colonies.
  • Approximately, 2,269 candidates are selected for the training by 36 training partners in 45 different skills within three months.
  • Apart from that, 32 more police stations’ buildings are selected which would operate as the Skill Development centers in near future.
Views of Government:
According to the Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge) Rajiv Pratap Rudy, this YUVA initiative must increase employability for the youth of India. Self-confidence and trust for the Police Department must be developed among the youth who would come to be trained in the police stations. This must result a long-lasting positive image of the Indian Police in the mind of the common people.
