Solution
Statement III gives the C.P. of the article.
Statement II and I would give S.P. of the article.
Therefore, all I, II and III are required.
2.The question cannot be answered because R's share in investment is not given.
3.Let the marked price be Rs.x
I.Cost price = (1 - 0.15)x = Rs.0.85x
II.S.P. = Rs.3060
III.Profit = 2% of x = 0.02x
Profit earned on the cost price = (0.02x/0.85x) × 100 = 2.35% (approx)
0.02x = 3060 - 0.85x
or, x = 3060/0.87
Actual profit = 0.02x = 0.02 × 3060/0.87 = Rs.70.34
4.From statements I and II,
speed of train = (x+y)/n m/sec [1 kmph = 5/18 m/sec]
From statements II and III,
speed of train = y/m m/sec
From statements III and I,
if the length of train be z metre, then
speed of train = (z+x)/n = z/m
After determining the value of z, speed can be determined.
5.As we don't know the total number of students, the answer can not be determined even with information in all three statements.
6.Average number of female teachers
= (125 + 105 + 120 + 80 + 100)/5 = 106
7.Required number of non-PhD male teachers
= (175 × 68)/100 + (180 × 55)/100
= 119 + 99 = 218
8.Required ratio = (320×35)/100 : (80×20)/100 = 112 : 16 = 7 : 1
9.Required difference = [(290 × 70)/100] - 35 = 168
10.Number of PhD teachers in University B
= (250 × 74)/100 + (105 × 40)/100 = 185 + 42 = 227
Required% = [227/(250+105)] × 100 = 64% (approx)
