Solution
1.Required % of profit = [(72   ̶  48)/48]×100 = 50%

2.Length of the train = 480m
Time = 32 seconds
so, Speed of train = 480/32 = 15m/s
Now, (L+Bridge)/15 = 47
or, Length of the Bridge = 705  ̶  480 = 225m

3.Let the capacity of the tank be x litres.
(3x/4)+6 = (4x/5)
or, (4x/5)  ̶  (3x/4) = 6
or, (16x  ̶  15x)/20 = 6
or, x = 6 × 20 = 120 litres

4.Total marks neded to pass the exam = 98+10 = 108
Pass marks = 45%
Maximum marks of the examination = (108×100)/45 = 240

5.We have, M1 = 10, W1 = 3/5, D1 = 12
M2 =?,    W2 = 2/5, D2 = 10
M1D1W2 = M2D2W1
or, 10 × 12 × 2/5 = M2 × 10 × 3/5
or, M2 = 48/6 = 8

6.Difference = 238.50  ̶  225
= Rs. 13.50
= S.I. on Rs. 225 for 1 year
so, Rate = ( S.I. × 100)/( Principal × Time)
= (13.50 × 100)/(225 × 1)
= 6% per annum

7.Ratio of values = (15×3):(10×2):(5×5)
= 45:20:25
so, required average cost = (45+20+25)/10
= 90/10
= Rs.9

8.Let, the Sides of the trapezium = 2x and 3x cm
so, 1/2(2x+3x)×12 = 480
or, 5x = 480/6 = 80
or, x = 80/5 = 16
Larger side = 3x = 3×16 = 48cm

9.Number of revolutions = (12×42)/18 = 28

10.Let the numbers be xH and yH, where H is the HCF and yH>xH
now, LCM = xyH
so, xyH = 2yH
or, x = 2
Again, xH  ̶  H = 4
or, 2H  ̶  H = 4
or, H = 4
So, the smaller number is = xH = 8
