History of Nobel Prize
Background of Nobel Prize – 
  • The Nobel Foundation was started in the year of 1901. At the beginning the Nobel Prizes were given by the Foundation for five disciplines. The sixth one was added in the year of 1967. The Nobel Prizes are given in the following disciplines i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Literature, Peace and Economics. The awards are awarded from the fund maintained for the purpose by the Industrialist and Inventor of Sweden Alfred Bernhard Nobel. The Nobel Prizes are very prestigious awards which are given for various intellectual achievements. 
Alfred Bernhard Nobel-
  • Nobel was a noted Swedish scientist who invented Dynamite. He endowed huge amount of fund in his will and the interest of this total endowment was be used for the people whose works must benefit the humanity.
Nobel Foundation -
  • It is a private organization.
  • It protects the common interests of the Prize awarding institutions.
  • It performs the informal activities and the arrangements related to Nobel Prize presentation.
  • The Foundation does not take part in the process of selection and final choice of the Nobel Laureates.
  • The Nobel Prize in Economics was first given in the year of 1967.
  • The respective Prize Awarding bodies used to give Nobel Prizes for various discipline.
