National:
  • Odisha is going to have a Second Generation (2G) Ethanol Bio-Refinery, first in the country to produce ethanol from rice straw, in Bargarh district.
  • LogoThis year Goa International Film Festival from 20th to 28th of November will have Jharkhand as a partner state. The decision was taken yesterday in meeting between Secretary of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting ,Mr. Amit Khare and Chief Secretary of Jharkhand, Sudhir Tripathy at Ranchi.

  • Ukraine has opened a series of large-scale air-force exercises with the United States and seven other NATO countries.The 12-day-long Clear Sky 2018 war games are being held in Western Ukraine.

Cabinet Approval:
  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the proposal for closure of the Biecco Lawrie Limited (BLL) including giving Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS)/ Voluntary Separation Scheme (VSS) to the employees of the Company.

Agreement:
  • UNICEF and NASSCOM Foundation Monday signed an agreement to strengthen child rights through "meaningful business interventions". With this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the two organisations will work collaboratively on two key areas including national sensitisation on 'child online protection' and 'encouraging innovations for child rights' in the country.

Environment:
  • The Centre has reconstituted Supreme Court-empowered Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority or the EPCA, which is tasked with taking various measures to tackle air pollution in the National Capital Region. The tenure of the last EPCA expired on October 3.
