Indian Railway Has recently announced a mass vacancy (26,502 + 62,907) for the recruitment of ALP(Assistant Loco Pilot), Technician and Group-D posts. So it is the high time to kick-start your preparation. The Achievers Rule team provides you a complete idea i.e. syllabus, exam pattern etc. regarding the exams. There must be a tough competition for the selection in Railway, the aspirants should read carefully the examination pattern, syllabus and start preparing from today. Exam Pattern of Railway ALP and Technician Exam (26,502 Posts)
There would be 4 stages of the exam i.e. CBT Stage 1, CBT Stage 2, Computer Based Aptitude Test (For ALP only) and Document Verification.

  • There will be negative marking. 1/3 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.
  • 15 times of the number of vacancies would be called for the CBT Second Stage Exam.
Candidates shortlisted for CBT – 2 must be informed by Text/ Email messages. The list would also be displayed in Website.
Part-A Eligibility –
  • Minimum Percentage – UR- 40%, OBC – 30%, SC- 30% and ST- 25%.
  • For Part B, Qualifying Marks would be 35%. Candidates have to pass in this section.
  • Performance of Part -A would be considered for the short listing of candidates for Part-B.
 For ALP there will be a Computer Based Aptitude Test -
  1. Engineering Drawing –Lines, Geometrical Figures, Projection, Different Views, Drawing, Symbolic Representation.
  2. Engineering Physics – Unit and Measurements, Mass and Weight, Work, Power and Energy, Heat and Temperature, Speed, Velocity and Distance.
  3. Mechanics – Simple Machine and Levers
  4. Basic Electricity
  5. Safety and Health
  6. IT Literacy
  7. Environmental Education
  8. Engineering Basics
8 times of available vacancies for the specified posts would be shortlisted for the specified post in the given RRB region.
ALP Selection List would be prepared by giving 70% weightage to CBT Part A and 30 % weightage to CBAT performance.

  • The aspirants must follow the standard textbooks of Class IX- X for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Environmental Science.
  • 24-27 Questions may come from this section.
Physical Efficiency Test –

Male Candidates
Female Candidates
He must be able to lift and carry 35 Kg of weight for 100 meters distance in 2 minutes in one chance.
She must be able to lift and carry 20 Kg of weight for 100 meters distance in 2 minutes in one chance.
He should be able to run for a distance of 1000 meter in 4 minutes and 15 seconds in one chance.
She should be able to run for a distance of 1000 meter in 5 minutes and 40 seconds in one chance.
  • Based on the Performance of PET candidates should be called for Document Verification.
  • If two aspirants get same marks, the older one must be selected.
  • RRB would recommend the names of selected candidates and appointment is offered only by Railway Administrations.
Preparation Tips –
  • You must go through the detailed syllabus properly and understand the examination pattern.
  • You must put stress on Current Affairs as it carries more marks.
  • Solve mock questions as many as possible.
  • For technical Knowledge, you must read standard text books.
