  • Science& Technology, Earth Sciences; Environment, Forest & Climate Change Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan unveiled a state-of-the-art Air Quality and Weather Forecast System– SAFAR (System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting)at ChandniChowkin Delhi.The giant true colour LED display gives out real-time air quality index on 24x7 basis with colour coding alongwith 72-hour advance forecast.The SAFAR system will be implemented in four cities of India-Delhi, Pune,Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday left for Rwanda on the first leg of his five-day, three-nation tour of Africa that will also take him to Uganda and South Africa.

  • Kerala stands as the best governed state in the country and Karnataka is in the fourth position, said the Public Affairs Index 2018 released by the think tank Public Affairs Centre (PAC) in Bengaluru. Released annually since 2016, the index examines governance performance in the states through a data-based framework, ranking them on social and economic development they are able to provide.

  • Indian badminton player Lakshaya Sen bagged the gold medal and creates history after defeating Indonesia’s top-seeded Kunlavut Vitidsaran in the final match of the Badminton Asia Junior Championship in Jakarta on Sunday.
  • Two days after becoming the first player from Pakistan to score a double century in a one-day international, Fakhar Zaman reached a further milestone in becoming the quickest player in history to reach 1,000 runs in the format as Pakistan amassed 364 for 4 in the fifth and final ODI of their tour of Zimbabwe.

Obituary:
  • Los Angeles Times and Pulitzer Prize-winning restaurant critic Jonathan Gold has died at 57.He became the first restaurant critic to win a Pulitzer for criticism in 2007.

Sports:

  • India won 8 medals in the two day Junior Asian Wrestling Championship which concluded in New Delhi.The medals comprised 2 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze. Sachin Rathi won the gold after winning the bout in the 74-kilogram category. Deepak Punia then won the gold in the 86 kilogram category.
  • Iran with 189 points topped the Junior Asian Wrestling championship. India with 173 points finished second while Uzbekistan with 128 points came third.
  • Star sprinter Muhammed Anas Yahiya once again entered the record books on Saturday as he broke his own national record to win the 400 metres race at the Cena Noveho Mesta nad Metuji meet in Czech Republic.
