SAMAJWADI PENSION YOJANA by Uttar Pradesh State Government

Introduction:
Uttar Pradesh State Government launched a new scheme named “Samajwadi Pension Scheme” in year 2014 to provide financial assistance to 40lakh Below Poverty Line (BPL) category families in Uttar Pradesh. This scheme was launched by at this Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav. Present now it’s headed by Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath has stalled this scheme. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath, who was reviewing various schemes being run by the Social Welfare Department of the state, asked the officials to stall the pension scheme and review the list of people to find out whether they are worthy candidates fulfilling the eligibility criterion. He has ordered the officials to conduct a detail review of this scheme to ascertain whether the beneficiaries are deserving candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria. With this scheme, the Government is helping families which have no source of income. This decision was taken during 2nd cabinet meeting in which the new CM was reviewing various social welfare schemes run by State Welfare Department.
Objectives:
- To provide financial facilitation to 40lakh Below Poverty Line (BPL) category families in Uttar Pradesh.
- To covers the poor families of the state and gives them all-around protection.
Key Features:
- Under this initiative, every family is given Rs. 500 per month as cover money.
- The upper limit of the scheme has been fixed at Rs. 750.
- More than 45 lakh families have been benefitted under the Samajwadi Pension Scheme.
- The Samajwadi Pension Scheme is increased by Rs. 50 every year to meet the requirements.
- This scheme was beneficiary family had to follow other conditions which were related to children education, health standers and adult literacy.
- Rs. 2727 crore have been sanctioned for the Samajwadi Pension Scheme in the budget.
- This scheme meets the standards of health and education capacities.
- The beneficiaries are given the amount quarterly and so far, Rs. 5049.084 lakhs have been given to 33,66,056 people.
- This scheme was being administrated by Uttar Pradesh State Welfare Department.
