NATIONAL:
  • Nitin Gadkari,The Union Minister for Road transport and Highway has inaugurated India's first bio-refinery plant at Rahu,Maharashtra.This plant can produce one million litre of ethanol per annum by processing agro residue like Whreat Straw and Rice,Cotton Stalk cane trash with superior product yields.
  • The State government of Odisha is going to introduce Boat ambulance service in four districts of the state where people face face difficulties in getting health service.These districts are Koraput,Malkangiri,Kendrapara and Kalahandi.
  • A cultural festival has been organised in Egypt by maulana Azad centre for Indian culture to mark 156th birth anniversary of Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore.This festival will be concluded in on May 12  with 'Rituranga-play of seasons'and will be performed by Indian Community at Hanager theatre.
  • The 2017 list of the richest 1000 people in UK has been topped by Hinduja brothers with an estimated fortune o 16.2 Billion USD.
INTERNATIONAL:
  • Emmanuel macron has been elected as the President of France.he has become the first president from outside the two traditional main parties in France to win a Presidential election.
APPOINTMENTS:
  • Prabhat Kamal Bezboruah from Assam has become first non-IAS to head Tea Board of India by replacing Shri Santosh Sarangi .
AWARDS:
  • India's cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has received the Fellowship Award at the 7th Annual Asian Awards in United kingdom.
SPORTS:
  • Saqib Mazeed from Kashmir has won the 2016 Wisden-MCC(Melbourne Cricket Council)Cricket 'Photographer of the Year'for capturing a stunning picture of boys playing cricket in Nishat Garden,Srinagar.
  • The Great Britain has won the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup Hockey Tournament by beating Australia 4-3 in the final at Ipoh,Malaysia. 
OBITUARY:
  • Legendary sitar player Ustad Raees Khan from Pakistan has passed away at the age of 77.
