NATIONAL:

  • The National Health Mission in Haryana has launched a mobile app named 'Kilkari' to promote awareness among pregnant women,parents and health workers on the importance of ante and post natal care.This mobile app will deliver 72 appropriate audio messages to registered mobile numbers on pregnancy,child and child birth every week from the second trimester of pregnancy.
  • The State government of Maharashtra has signed a MoU with the Indian railways to increase the green cover across the railway line.
  • The National Panchyati Raj Diwas is being celebrated across the country on April 24th.The significance of this day is that on this day in 1992 The Constitution (73rd Amendment act)is passed that came into effect from 24 April 1993.'The Kuther Gram Panchayat'from Himachala Pradesh has won the best award for being the first village in the country free from Open Defacation.
  • India's first online interactive heritage portal 'Sahapedia 'is launched.'Sahapedia'is not for profit society headed by Former Tata Consultancy services chairman S.Ramodorai.

INTERNATIONAL:

  • China and Iran have signed the first agreement on the reconfiguration of Iran's Arak reactor.This deal was concluded between 'Atomic Energy organisation of Iran'(AEOI)and a Chinese Company at the Official ceremony in Vienna,Austria.
  • The World book and Copyright Day is being observed on 23rd April.This day signifies the importance of reading and promoting publication and protection of Copyright .

AWARDS:

  • Mousumi Chaterjee has received the Lifetime achievement award at th 80th Bengal Film Journalists Association(BFJA) awards.
  • Raj kumar starrer Bollywood film 'Newton'has won the best film award at the Hong Kong International film festival.
